The disruption, which began around October 13, affected the Salisbury, North Carolina-based chain’s digital channels, including its Food Lion To Go ordering service. Stores, pharmacies, and fuel stations remained operational throughout the outage.
Greg Finchum, president of Food Lion, apologized for the inconvenience, stating, “We were unable to provide the digital experience our customers expect and deserve, and for that, we’re truly sorry.” Finchum also expressed relief at restoring the digital services, emphasizing the importance of providing an easy, fresh, and affordable shopping experience.
Food Lion has launched a series of promotions to thank customers for their patience. These include $15 off a $75 Instacart order and $30 off a $75 DoorDash order with the code 30FOODLION, valid until October 23. The company described these offers as a token of appreciation for customers’ patience during the disruption.
Additional offers are available for MVP loyalty members, with $10 off a $50 purchase from October 21 to 31. The company also mentioned that additional savings would be available for e-commerce shoppers, MVP cardholders, and Shop & Earn participants.
The company operates over 1,100 stores across 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states, employing more than 82,000 associates. Its Food Lion Feeds program has donated over 1.5 billion meals since 2014, with a goal of reaching 3 billion by 2032. The program is part of the company’s broader commitment to addressing hunger in the communities it serves.
